<![CDATA[Champagne Glitter - Travel]]>Fri, 26 Feb 2016 17:55:48 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[Top Five Tasty Treats You Will Only Find in NYC]]>Tue, 08 Jul 2014 03:23:33 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/top-five-tasty-treats-you-will-only-find-in-nycFinding dessert in New York is piece of cake (pun intended). There is a dessert place LITERALLY on every corner. But when you're spending a limited amount of time in the greatest city in the world, you'll want to skip the touristy nonsense and get right to the good stuff that you can't get anywhere else! Hit up these five spots, and you'll leave New York with a satisfied sweet tooth.

1) Sprinkles Cupcake ATM
My school had 2 vending machines in the entire building... and they were disgusting. Due to the fact that we never saw the food being changed out of the vending machine, we were pretty sure that all the snacks were stale, which made no one want to buy them, which further supported the staleness theory. But there is one vending machine that's stolen Manhattan's heart (and mine as well), and it dispenses freshly made cupcakes! At $3.75 a piece, you can watch as the Sprinkles ATM produces a delicious cupcake perfectly wrapped in a box! It's fast, easy, and it's a pretty fun novelty. Check out this list to see which flavors the machine has today!

UPDATE 7/22/14: I stopped by the Sprinkles ATM today with my best friend, Chloe, to check it out! We had a lot of fun playing with the machine, but we ended up going into the store to see what else Sprinkles has to offer! We shared an AMAZING sundae, which consisted of a peanut butter cupcake with chocolate chip ice cream. Needless to say, it was delicious!
2) The Crepes Truck
Okay, so maybe crepes are a dime a dozen these days, but there's something about eating a freshly made crepe from a food truck that never gets old. Not to mention the guy who makes them is SOOOO sweet! The Crepes Truck makes delicious crepes with food fillings and dessert toppings! They also use their Facebook page actively to post where they will be located throughout the day!

3) Mister Softee
Here is another food truck that cannot be missed when your in Manhattan! Mister Softee has been a staple of NYC since 1958. It may seem like your average ice cream truck, but it's so much more! It's soft serve!!! Get a delicious sundae without all the frills; it's just REALLY GOOD ice cream!! The Mister Softee website claims to have over 600 trucks in 15 different states, but I've traveled a lot and I've never seen a truck anywhere besides Manhattan, so don't miss out on this tasty treat!

4) Pie Face
I'm totally not into pies... but I always make an exception for Pie Face. Not only do they have typical dessert pies, like chocolate, apple, and cherry, but they also have meal pies, like bacon egg and cheese and Philly cheesesteak! This place is a perfect for dessert because their pies are mini; they are kinda like the Baked by Melissa of pies! It is a perfect sized portion for a quick treat, and their pies have ADORABLE FACES on them. They are so cute (and perfect for an instagram), so check out one of the various Manhattan locations of Pie Face!

5) Momofuku Milk Bar
So, I've been to Momofuku like 10 times and I still don't understand what it is. I think it's Japanese, but basically they sell a few different types of baked goods (cookies, cakes, pastries, etc). They are known for their cake balls, which are kinda like cake pops but 10x better and 100x sweeter. They are SOOOO delicious (especially the birthday cake flavor!) but I can't eat more than one at a time. The cake balls are so rich and flavorful that just eating one is more than enough (but they sell them in threes so bring friends to share!!) This is definitely one of the most unique desserts I've found in Manhattan!!

So next time you stop by the Big Apple, don't be basic and go to Dylan's Candy Bar (or even worse...Serendipity!). Try stopping by one of these fun dessert places, and let me know if there's anything you think I missed! I'm always looking for a good excuse to go into Manhattan!

<![CDATA[My Italian Adventure: Rome Day 4]]>Sat, 26 Apr 2014 03:22:32 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/my-italian-adventure-rome-day-4For my last full day in Rome, I decided to get dressed up and wear one of my favorite outfits:
I love this outfit because I'm obsessed with my sunflower skirt! I bought it last summer at Brandy Melville in Rome, but in America it is sold at American Apparel ($60.00). It looks so cute with a simple tank top and denim jacket! This skirt is also worn by Ariana Grande in her "Baby I" music video.
Our first stop of the day was the Furla store! I've had my eye on a candy bag for a long time, and I wanted to come home from Italy with an Italian bag, so I decided to purchase a pink candy bag!
Next, we went to Laudrée for the most delicious macarons! We got salted caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and a new flavor I had never seen before: Marie Antoinette. It was my mother's first Laudrée experience, and now she's obsessed!
Next, we walked to the Colosseum to check out what it looks like on the inside. It was HUGE!!!!
Finally, we went to the supermarket to do some shopping for our 10 hour plane flight home.
My spring break in Italy was so amazing! I got to see so much history and meet so many amazing people (and wear so many cute outfits!). I hope you enjoyed journeying through my vacation and I hope you've been inspired by some of my outfits! Until next time, ciao!
<![CDATA[My Italian Adventure: Rome Day 3]]>Fri, 25 Apr 2014 03:21:57 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/my-italian-adventure-rome-day-3To take a break from the hustle and bustle of Rome, we took a day trip to Orvieto. About an hour outside of Rome, Orvieto is a quaint town with delicious food, fabulous shopping, and amazing views.
Orvieto is basically a giant hill, and we climbed all the way to the top to check out the insane view!
We had such a nice and simple day in Orvieto! Even though it wasn't as packed with things to do as the other cities, it was so beautiful and relaxing!
<![CDATA[My Italian Adventure: Rome Day 1 & 2]]>Thu, 24 Apr 2014 03:21:39 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/my-italian-adventure-rome-day-1-2Our last day in Florence and first day in Rome basically consisted of another train ride, more traveling, and a bike tour around Rome. I won't bore you with all the details, but here are a few pictures:
In the middle of our bike tour, we stopped for some delicious crepes! I got Nutella and white chocolate inside of mine (it was AMAZING!)
In Rome, we stayed at the lovely Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria, which is about 20 minutes outside of the main area of Rome. This hotel was absolutely magnificent! We were given the the most beautiful and spacious rooms (and as a bonus, we got the comfiest slippers!) The hotel was so huge; it was like being on a cruise ship! Inside the hotel is a shopping mall, 2 swimming pools, a restaurant, and famous sculptures and art on display. The hotel was so amazing; we didn't want to leave! But, we had an exciting day planned in Rome! We began our day with a tour of the Vatican. We got to see the amazing sculptures of ancient Rome, St. Peter's Basilica, and the magnificent Sistine Chapel (where my dad nearly got arrested for trying to snap a pic of the beautiful ceiling painted by Michelangelo).
After the Vatican, we stopped at a cute market place for lunch!
Then, we took a nice walk over to the Trevi Fountain. On the way, I stopped in front of the Altare della Patria to take some pics of my outfit of the day!
I am wearing a pair of my J.Crew patterned pants and a pink J.Crew v-neck sweater. This outfit was perfect because it was super comfy. We did a lot of activities in Rome, and I wasn't uncomfortable at all in this great outfit! My only issue is that the sweater is a bit see-through because it is so lightweight. So, I make sure to always wear a plain tank underneath (and I can't say enough great things about this sweater; I own it in 4 different colors!). I am also wearing my favorite DKNY gladiators and two strings of pearls. This outfit was so bright and fun!
Our next stop is my FAVORITE place in Italy (and possibly one of my favorite places in the entire world): The Trevi Fountain! The Trevi Fountain is so magnificent and beautiful! The only problem is that it is SO crowded with tourists. But, I pushed my way to the front to get some amazing pictures.
I even got to have my Lizzie McGuire moment and make a wish! Finally, we ended the day with some gelato at the Spanish Steps. It was such a lovely day in Rome!
Keep checking for more on my exciting vacation!
<![CDATA[My Italian Adventure: Florence Day 2]]>Wed, 23 Apr 2014 03:21:19 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/my-italian-adventure-florence-day-2Finally, another fashionable day in Italy! On our second day in Florence, we saw the David by Michelangelo and climbed 463 steps to the top of the Duomo, a magnificent Italian cathedral. It was a lot of work climbing up to the top, but it was worth it for this amazing view.
I loved my outfit for this day! I wore a blue and orange maxi dress with my favorite denim jacket. (BTW: A denim jacket is the BEST THING to bring on vacation! It's not heavy and it literally matches every single color in your wardrobe. There are so many different ways to wear a denim jacket, so don't leave it at home!) I am also wearing my favorite comfy DKNY gladiators and a gorgeous statement necklace. This was a perfect outfit for a relaxing, sight-seeing day!
After the Duomo, we went over to see the David by Michelangelo. I couldn't snap any pics because cameras were not allowed, but seeing the David in person was really cool. It's such an iconic statue and it's absolutely incredible (and HUGE). Then, we headed to our next activity: a private cooking class! We were paired with a chef named Desi from the Ivory Coast. He was definitely...interesting. got to make our own dinner (but we didn't get to pick the menu!) so we made homemade pasta with pesto sauce and marinara sauce, and rabbit stew (GROSS). But, the pesto was delicious!
Cooking in the kitchen was hard work, but it was so much fun! After our delicious homemade meal, we ended the evening in a predictable manner: with some yummy gelato!
<![CDATA[My Italian Adventure: Venice Day 3 & Florence Day 1]]>Tue, 22 Apr 2014 03:20:55 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/my-italian-adventure-venice-day-3-florence-day-1Disclaimer: This was NOT a fashionable day for me, at all. But, it was one of my favorite days on the trip, so I still wanted to share it.
I committed such a fashion faux pas, but it was so worth it! We made t-shirts for our vacation with all of our names in a crossword puzzle. The crossword puzzle was complimented by a giant map of Italy colored in red and green. Imagine 8 Americans traveling around Italy in ridiculous matching T-shirts. We traveled from Venice to Florence by train. After a nice 2 hour ride, we arrived in Florence, ready to explore the city! But we couldn't take a typical walking tour of historic Florence, that is WAY too typical. So what did we do? A Segway tour. Now, imagine 8 Americans traveling around Italy in ridiculous matching T-shirts on Segways. Oh wait... I have pictures!
This was really the best way to see Florence! I toured Florence last summer by foot, but the Segways allowed us to see so much more of the beautiful city in half of the time! Here are just some of the many amazing places we saw while on tour!
I can't wait to share my next day in Florence with you! Stay posted because my next outfit is SUPER fashionable!
<![CDATA[My Italian Adventure: Venice Day 2]]>Mon, 21 Apr 2014 03:20:34 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/my-italian-adventure-venice-day-2For our first full day in Italy, we traveled to the island of Murano in Venice. Only a 10 minute boat ride from the main island of Venice, Murano is known for its beautiful glass art.
We spent most of the day shopping in the glass stores! It was so much fun seeing all of the amazing, handmade work that is done by the glass blowers of Italy. I also saw a postcard of Madonna that oddly looked just like me...
After we were done shopping in Murano, we went back to the main island of Venice and did a little more shopping! It was so sunny and beautiful in Venice, which was a surprise because the weather is normally really rainy! I put together a really fun outfit for this beautiful day!
I am wearing one of my brand new pairs of patterned pants from J.Crew. I love these pants because I like planning my outfit around my bottoms as opposed to my tops. These pants are super eye-catching, so I paid them with a very simple Double Scoop Neck Knit Tank ($15.00) from Nordstrom. It was a little chilly, so I added my jean jacket to the outfit. My shoes are these super comfy DKNY gladiators that I have in black, white, and gold (I'm kinda obsessed with them).

I had an amazing first full day in Italy, but no day is complete without some delicious gelato!
Stay tuned for Day 3 in Venice!! Until next time, ciao!
<![CDATA[My Italian Vacation: Venice Day 1]]>Sun, 20 Apr 2014 03:20:08 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/my-italian-vacation-venice-day-1I'm finally back from my AMAZING vacation in Italy!! I have so many photos to share with you! (1,537 to be exact...but don't worry, I won't post them all!) I figured the easiest way to do this is in chronological order so.... first stop: Venice! After traveling 8 hours by plane and 2 hours by boat, we finally reached our hotel: the Hilton Molino Stucky. For our first night in Italy, we went out for a casual dinner.
Now keep in mind, I had about 10 minutes to change out of my travel clothes and put this outfit together. But, I like this outfit because it's really simple. Just a pair of jeans, a tank top, a cardigan, and gladiators. The statement necklace adds a little bit of trendiness to this plain look!

This is just the first of many posts from my vacation to Italy, so keep an eye out for more!
<![CDATA[A Bit of Inspiration]]>Mon, 06 Jan 2014 04:19:39 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/a-bit-of-inspirationToday, the weather was unbearably cold. And when it's this cold, it's hard to not think about how happy I would be on a warm, sunny beach. This inspired my mother and me to start planning our family vacation for next Christmas. Normally, we travel over Spring Break, but since I'm going to college next year, my vacation won't be the same time as my brother's! So, we decided Christmas time was the perfect opportunity for our family trip! There are so many places we want to visit, and I want to share some of the beautiful photos I found with you! PS: If you've been to any of these locations recently, let me know how you liked it and where you stayed. Thanks!

1) St. Maarten
2) Mykonos, Greece
3) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
4) Monaco and the French Riviera
5) Tibet
<![CDATA[The Trip of a Lifetime]]>Tue, 20 Aug 2013 03:19:03 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/travel/the-trip-of-a-lifetimeThis summer, I was lucky enough to go on one of the most amazing vacations ever: a month-long European extravaganza. Traveling through Rein Teen Tours, I visited England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, and Spain. Not only was the experience amazing, but I got to wear some pretty cute outfits along the way. Here is my fashionable journey through Europe:
Our vacation began in London, where we saw the London Eye, Big Ben, Wicked the Musical, and Madame Tussaud's. My best friend, Cassie, and I took this pic in front of the beautiful Buckingham Palace. I am wearing a skirt, top, and necklace from Brandy Melville, a jean jacket from B.P. Nordstrom, and Ray Ban Sunglasses. Cassie's maroon dress is from Brandy Melville, and her glasses are Ray Ban as well. One of my favorite parts of London was shopping at TopShop, where I bought this adorable bracelet:
The London Eye was absolutely beautiful. It was one of my favorite sites of the whole trip!
After London came Paris, the fashion capital of the world. I brought out my Parisian style when we went to the Eiffel Tower. I wore a black and white striped crop top from Brandy Melville and a sheer maxi skirt from TopShop. Here are some pics of me, Cassie, Sam, Caroline, Alexis, and Sami in front of the Eiffel Tower:
We went to Disney Paris, which was a blast. It's so different than the Disney in America (but the lines were just as long!)
Cassie, Alexis, Sami, and I bought Minnie ears (obviously). We waited on line for Space Mountain for two hours, but it was totally worth it!
The next day, we explored Paris. We got to see the Love Lock Bridge (Kardashian moment), the Louvre, and the beautiful city!
And, I ate enough macarons from Laudrée to feed a small nation.
We ended our stay in Paris with a beautiful night cruise to see the Eiffel Tower. This was the most beautiful picture I took from the whole trip:
After Paris, we went to Switzerland for a little rest and relaxation. Comfy was the dress code in this country, and I spent most of my time in Switzerland wearing leggings and sweaters.
The best part of Switzerland was going inside of a glacier. It was so beautiful inside (not to mention freezing cold).
Our next stop was Italy! We began our time in Italy at the Leaning Tower of Pisa, wear I wore light denim high-waisted shorts, a black and white tank top, and white crochet Toms.
In Florence, we went to a discoteca (basically a club) for foreigners. It was definitely crazy! I wore a cropped Brandy Melville tank and a navy and gray tye dye maxi skirt from Brandy. Here are some pictures I took in my outfit with my friends Alaska and Sami:
After Florence, we went to Rome. We stopped at the Vatican, which had a strict dress code. Even though it was over 100 degrees, Alexis and I put on maxi dresses so that we could see the famous country (yes, Vatican City is technically a country separate from Italy).
My dress and jacket are both from BP Nordstrom. My sandals are gold gladiators from DKNY. Rome was so beautiful, but SO HOT. I've never experienced weather like this before. I did my best to stay cool in a light green Brandy Melville tank and denim shorts from Hollister (I know, I know, but they were SO comfortable!) Here is a pic from the Colosseum:
Definitely not my best look, but it was so hot I didn't even care what I looked like. Fortunately, we left Rome the next day and traveled to Sorrento, a beautiful Italian city on the Amalfi Coast. We had a lovely beach day on the neighboring island of Capri. I wore an adorable pink and white Juicy Couture bikini under a pink and grey Brandy cover-up dress and Tory Burch flip flops. It was so sunny, so I purchased a black and white sunhat to protect my face. Capri was absolutely beautiful, and I am working on a fashion collection based on the colors of the ocean there.
How beautiful is that view?? It was INCREDIBLE. I purchased my beach bag from Zara in Paris while shopping on the Champs-Élysées.
Here are some amazing pictures of the ocean:
I went on a CRAZY shopping spree in Rome at Brandy Melville. The Brandy there was SO beautiful and had so many items I have never seen in America. Here is one shirt I bought that isn't sold in the US:
I also bought this adorable skirt (seen on Ariana Grande in her "Baby I" music video) and top at Brandy.
After we left Italy, we went back to France and stopped in a Medieval-themed city, Carcassonne. I loved staying in Carcassonne; it was such a fun town! I had a delicious pizza dinner, a TON of candy from an adorable candy store, and went to a haunted house. I had Alaska braid my hair in a waterfall braid, and I got a ton of compliments!
Then, we arrived in our last country: Spain! We started in Barcelona, and I got to see the famous steps from the Cheetah Girls movie!
The weather in Barcelona was beautiful. It was warm, but not too humid. I wore a black and white flower tank and light blue skirt from Brandy Melville. Here's some pictures of me, Cassie, Alexis, Bruna, Sami, and the other Alexis (lol) in Barcelona!
All great things must come to an end, and when I arrived in Madrid, I knew my amazing vacation was nearing its conclusion. For our final dinner, we ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. After, we went back to the hotel and spent the night together as a group. We took some amazing Polaroids on Alexis' camera. Here are some pictures of me, Cassie, both Alexis', Spencer, Bruna, and Sami.
This summer was absolutely amazing. Traveling around Europe was unbelievable; everything is so different there. I met so many incredible people and made friendships that I know will last forever.
I will conclude this post with a slideshow of my favorite pictures from this summer! I hope your summer was as incredibly fun as mine!
