<![CDATA[Champagne Glitter - Style]]>Fri, 26 Feb 2016 17:55:52 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[CPBs For Winter!]]>Fri, 14 Nov 2014 20:25:42 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/cpbs-for-winterThere is nothing quite like the perfect CPB (coat, pants, bag) combination. Even though it's only November, it's cold up here in Ithaca. Like, freezing cold. I should probably be responsible and start shopping for earmuffs & gloves, a little bit of fur, and maybe by myself some hot chocolate. But, all I can think about is these 6 fantastic CPBs. I love these combos because they will keep you warm & stylish!
<![CDATA[Get This Look: Edgy Preppy]]>Sat, 25 Oct 2014 23:49:31 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/get-this-look-edgy-preppyIt's finally starting to get chilly here in upstate New York, which means it is time to switch over to my winter wardrobe. I'm so excited for this winter... I did so much shopping before college to prepare for the look I'm going for this season: preppy with an edge. So what does this look consist of?

1) Trendy Sweaters
This Striped Two-In-One Sweater ($89.00) is a classic piece for this winter (and I'm actually wearing it right now)! It's so comfortable, and the shirt under the sweater is actually a fake shirt attached on the inside. I love this feature because there's nothing more uncomfortable than a heavy button-down under a bulky sweater!!

I also love this Y.A.S. Dare Sweater ($85.28) from ASOS. I'm trying to stick with very simple colors this season, especially black and white. This sweater utilizes fun geometric shapes in its exciting pattern! Plus, it is such a cute fit!
This Nishe Contrast Collar And Elbow Patch Sweater ($102.33) is so much fun! The sweater itself is very simple, yet the patchwork and peter pan collar add a unique element to the design! I also love the buttons on the back of the sweater!

2) Leather Accents
The leather details trend began in high fashion with designers like Valentino. This Leather Collar Top ($2,790.00) is a perfect example of this extremely popular style. It's an extremely simple top, yet the leather accents add a bit of edge.
Ann Taylor's Faux Leather Sleeve Tee ($79.00) brings the leather trend to an accessible price range. This shirt is a little bit boxy, but it is super cute paired with leggings or dark jeans. Just like the Valentino blouse, this tee has the perfect amount of leather accents. It's simple, yet super trendy!
If you're looking to make a splurge this season, buy these L624 Leather Stacked Supper Skinny Jeans ($950.00) by J Brand. These are perfect for the upcoming holiday season (for those of you already thinking about your New Year's Eve outfits!). They are comfortable, 100% leather, and they stretch to fit to your body!

3) Upscale Coats
Whoever said "no white after labor day" obviously never saw this Topshop Bonded Peplum Jacket (originally $110.00, on sale $54.99). Sure, this jacket might have been made for the summer season, but pair it with a black tank, dark jeans, suede booties, and a fur scarf and you're ready for a night out on the town!
This Krush Faux Shearling Sweater Coat ($78.00) is perfect for a chilly autumn day! The colors are so simple, yet the style is so modern. Plus, it is perfect for layering sweaters!
I'm all about black and white this season, but this MINKPINK Powder Room Coat ($149.00) is perfect for a pop of color! This might just be the softest coat in the world, and it's sure to receive lots of compliments!

4) Cute Collars

So Zara is doing an AMAZING job this season, especially with their tops (but should we expect anything less from the #1 Apparel Specialty Store in the world?) I'm seriously having a hard time narrowing this down, but here is a sampling of some of their trendy tops with AMAZING collars that are perfect for a pretty yet edgy wardrobe:
So, the preppy edgy trend is pretty easy to customize. Just stick to basic colors (with a few pops of brightness and some patterns), throw in a little leather, and finish it off with a cute collar. This look is all about being sleek and simple, but even more importantly, it's about adding your own taste and style, so have fun with it!
<![CDATA[Flats for Fall]]>Sat, 27 Sep 2014 19:39:31 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/flats-for-fallFall is here!! This is my favorite season; I just love the changing colors on the leaves and the crisp autumn weather. But what good is fall without perfect footwear? I was just offered a job as an Information Specialist (AKA a tour guide) at Cornell, so I'm in the market for some new, comfortable flats, and these are at the top of my list:

1) The Classic Flat
Nothing compares to the perfect pair of Tory Burch flats. I've had these Caroline Ballet Flats ($225.00) for about a month now, and I am in love with them! They're extremely comfortable (even comfier than the Reva flats!) and this particular color (Cabernet) is THE color of the season. This shoe also comes in navy, grey, and tan. These are perfect for lots of walking because the elastic band doesn't rub against your foot or create blisters. Just a word of warning, the Caroline Flats don't have a lot of traction, so they can become slippery when walking on pavement!

2) The Fancy Flat
The Amina Flat by Sole Society ($59.95) is great for special occasions! The quilted detail is adorable, and I love the black cap-toe! This shoe also comes in all black, crimson red, and navy. This shoe is so fun and festive, making it a fabulous shoe for the upcoming holiday season!

3)The Out-and-About Flat
This Kendall & Kylie Madden Girl Poppyy Flat ($49.95) is so fun! I was automatically drawn to these because I love all things Kardashian/Jenner, but these shoes are actually so cute. The cap-toe is making another appearance as hot trend this fall. These flats challenge the "no white shoes after labor day rule," but they are the perfect shoes if you'll be doing lots of walking this fall!

4) The Trendy Flat
We've been seeing a lot of 1990s influences in the latest trends, from halter tops to high socks. When I saw these Sole Society Celia Pointy Toe Flats ($59.95), I automatically thought of Cher and the rest of the "Clueless" crew. Plaid and tartan patterns are making a comeback this season, and these shoes will make a great addition to your fall wardrobe. I'd pair these with navy knee-high socks, a circle skirt, a tank, and a jean jacket. But, they can also be worn with jeans and leggings!

5)The Coveted Flats
These Charlotte Olympia Kitty Cat Satin Flat Slippers ($595.00) are the kinds of shoes I dream about. Charlotte Olympia is known for making the craziest shoes, but these are the perfect compromise between practical and fun. The silhouette is so simple, making it a versatile shoe that can be worn with anything. The cat design is whimsical and fun, and the gold heel is the perfect touch!! These shoes are trendy, comfy, and so adorable!

6) The Designer Must-Have
These Valentino Rockstud Ballerina Flats ($745.00) are on the top of my list right now. I'm in love with the whole Rockstud collection, but the flats are definitely the most practical. Made of the finest leather and assembled in Italy, these designer flats are certainly a splurge, but they're too cute to pass up! These flats come in black, red, pink, blue, white, and tan! With so many colors to choose from, the Rockstud flats are perfect for all fashionistas! (Tip: Try a half size up from your normal size; it's way more comfortable in the front!)

<![CDATA[Current Obsession: Printed Shorts]]>Thu, 07 Aug 2014 02:43:26 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/current-obsession-printed-shortsI was at Brandy Melville the other day and I decided to finally check out a style I've been dying to try all summer: printed, flowy shorts. Sometimes, it's just too hot to wear denim shorts, and skirts are always such a hassle. But, the cotton shorts I bought from Brandy are a perfect compromise.
For some reason, the shorts I actually purchased are not online, but they are the style on the right in the pattern on the left. They are super cute and sooo comfy!! These shorts are surprisingly easy to wear with a lot of different tops. I especially like pairing them with halters and cropped tees. Here are some stylish outfits I put together (featuring printed shorts, obvi!) that are so adorable!

1) Pom Poms + Pop of Color
Suno Printed Faille Shorts (originally $678.50, on sale $203.55)
Topshop V Neck Cutaway Crop Top (originally $68.00, on sale $20.00)
Paloma Barceló Suede Wedge Sandals (originally $406.00, on sale $207.00)
Illesteva Frieda Sunglasses (originally $270, on sale $74.99)
Valentino Rockstud Flap Wristlet Clutch Bag ($1,595.00)

This style is definitely a summer exclusive, so hurry up and try on some pretty patterned shorts before it's too late!!
<![CDATA[Best Bags of the Summer]]>Thu, 24 Jul 2014 16:47:14 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/best-bags-of-the-summerSummer is a time for fun fashion (keyword: FUN)! You can be practical in the winter, but right now, you need THESE bags to spice up your wardrobe!

Tory Burch Jardin Minaudiére (originally $395.00, on sale $276.50)
I'm in love with this fancy little bag! It's a gorgeous accessory for an evening look. The bag has just enough space for your phone, credit card, and lipstick, which is all you need for a night out! The detail is so beautiful, and I love the beaded accents. This piece is extremely unique, and to me, it looks like a work of art! This is the the perfect bag for an elegant summer night, and is best paired with a gorgeous gown, delicate stilettos, and a fabulous Blake Lively braid.

Longchamp Personalized Le Pliage ($215.00)
Everyone knows the signature Le Pliage bag by Longchamp. Honestly, it's not the most stylish thing I've ever seen, but it is practical, which is why it has quickly become so popular. This is a necessity for a summer day at the beach or an afternoon at the mall. It's made of nylon, so it's not as delicate as a leather bag, giving you more freedom to have fun this summer without worrying about your purse! Longchamp allows you to personalize your own Pliage bag, and you can choose the size, handle length, colors, hardware, and even add text for an additional cost. My personalized bag is shown above, and you can make your own here! I love this service because it allows you to have a unique Longchamp!

Kate Spade Fancy Footwork Saxton ($298.00)

I'm absolutely obsessed with this crossbody bag. Kate Spade is known for having fun and fabulous products, and this one does not disappoint. Inspired by the Rock N' Roll of the 1950s, this cute purse is modeled after a vintage record. It's perfect for a casual day, and it has just enough space to fit all your necessities. Plus, the inside is lined with fabric decorated with music notes! What an adorable addition to a summer wardrobe!

Saint Laurent 'Petite Ligne Y' Leather Tote ($2,490.00)

This bag is more of a splurge than the others, but it's totally worth it. I absolutely love the color, especially for summer (it looks like pink lemonade!) and the structure of this purse is just fabulous! I think my favorite thing about it is the suede lining. It also includes a strap so it can be worn as a crossbody. YSL never disappoints!

Elizabeth and James Cynnie Woven Tassel Sling Back ($545.00)
Looking for a backpack for some summer adventures? Look no further than this fabulous backpack by Elizabeth and James. I love this bag because it's a great size. It's not super heavy, but you can still fit a lot in it. Plus, the pattern is so trendy. It's woven, so it's a little delicate, and it's not really made to be out in the rain or in the water. But, it's good for a day at the beach and it's so pretty!

Summer is almost over, so get these fun and trendy bags before it's too late!
<![CDATA[Toms: The Most Important Shoes You Own]]>Wed, 23 Jul 2014 02:36:29 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/toms-the-most-important-shoes-you-ownYou know when you find something really cool or unique and you start wearing (carrying, using, etc) it before anyone else? Then it suddenly becomes popular and you're like "hey I totally started this trend" and the world is like "hey no one cares." Well, that was basically what happened with me and TOMS shoes. But I'm not bitter about it (okay maybe a little) because TOMS is such an amazing brand with such an important goal, and I'm glad that it has become so popular these past few years. When I first discovered TOMS back in 2010, I was more inspired by their "One for one" message than their actual product, and I attempted to go "One day without shoes," as part of their annual event to help people realize how important shoes are. Unfortunately, the official date of the event was a school day, and my high school wasn't really okay with me walking around barefoot, so I settled for sporting a pair of TOMS to spread the message. I quickly realized that TOMS are like the MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES EVER, and since then, my collection has flourished.
So today, while strolling down Madison Avenue wearing my Natural Crochet Classic TOMS ($59.00), I realized that I've never really dedicated a post to this amazing brand. This post is long overdue, so please forgive me, but it't time we talk about TOMS, AKA the most important shoes I own.
When thinking about shoes (which I do a lot), I often think of my black patent leather Louboutins as my most important pair. But, what have these heels done for the world? Nothing. So sure, I love wearing them, but TOMS are way more important, and they deserve way more attention. Why, you ask? Well, unless you've been living under a rock since 2006, you know that for every pair of shoes TOMS sells, it donates a brand new pair of shoes to a child in need. That's pretty incredible. Since opening shop in 2006, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie has dedicated his life to providing children in developing countries with footwear, enabling them to live healthier lives and prosper. Now, TOMS has expanded to selling sunglasses, and each eyewear purchase helps restore the vision of a child in need through corrective surgery, prescription glasses, or other forms of treatment. It's amazing that a brand can provide consumers with quality products while simultaneously helping the world.
TOMS makes a lot of cute different styles of shoes, but my favorite style is the classic slip on. I wore a pair in Manhattan today. I walked A LOT, and my feet didn't ache at all! TOMS are so perfect because they are comfortable, but I don't have to settle for wearing ugly sneakers! These are some of my favorites:
I love these Dark Blue Geometric Slip Ons ($59.00). They are part of the Jonathan Adler for TOMS collection. I love Adler's work, and it's so cool that he paired up with TOMS to create a collection! These are so preppy and fun. They remind me of my comforter I bought for college! Navy and white is such a classic look, and these are a great pair for the summer!
These White Crochet Slip Ons ($59.00) are a wardrobe staple. They look fabulous when paired with denim. I love the intricate crotchet detail. Of course, white shoes are bound to get dirty quickly, but fortunately, you can put them away after Labor Day, so they don't have to last very long!
How gorgeous are these Baltic Dip Dyed Slip Ons ($59.00)?? I am obsessed with the color. It is so beautiful, and the ombre effect is so unique!
These Red Tribal Essien Slip Ons ($54.00) make a fun statement piece. They are really colorful, so I would pair them with a simple outfit, like a white flowy tank and dark denim jeans (rolled up, obviously!).
Finally, I'm obsessed with the whole Haiti Artist Collective collection, especially these White Rebert's Beach Scene Slip Ons ($68.00). Each shoe is hand painted by a Haitian artist, so no two are exactly the same! How cool is that? It's like getting your own unique piece of artwork!

TOMS shoes are a perfect, inexpensive addition to your summer wardrobe! But more importantly, they allow you to take part in making the world a better place, making them undoubtedly the most important shoes you own.
<![CDATA[Nordstrom Anniversary Sale]]>Thu, 17 Jul 2014 03:42:12 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/nordstrom-anniversary-saleI have never been one to jump at sales. In my opinion, I'd rather pay the extra 20 or so percent to avoid the obnoxious crowds. But there's one sale that I cannot ignore: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It is the single greatest discount event in retail. Basically, each year, Nordstrom holds a huge sale in every department in July. The merchandise is always brand new stuff for the fall season, and the markdowns are amazing! Nordstrom cardholders get early access to the sale in order to get the best items before the general public is allowed to shop. Today was one of the last days of early access, so I hit the mall with my game face on. I got some really cute items that are totally going to be great this fall!
I am most excited about this Jolt Colorblock Faux Leather Bouclé Knit Coat. It's retail price is $98.00, but I purchased it for $64.90. I knew I needed this jacket as soon as I saw it. It is edgy, trendy, and surprisingly heavy, so it will keep me warm all winter! Normally, jackets like this look too boxy on my, but this one has a surprisingly slim fit. And it's faux, so it is animal friendly! I totally see this as something Kylie Jenner would wear. It reminds me a lot of her dark and simple style! I am so in love with this jacket.
Another item I really love is this Frenchi Faux Leather Trim Plaid Skirt. This skirt is priced at $42.00, but I purchased it for $27.90. This skirt is going to look great with a black blazer, high socks, and tall boots. It reminds me of something Cher Horowitz would wear, which is basically why I bought it. Plus, it fits really well and it's comfortable!
Once again, citing Kylie Jenner as a style reference, I purchased these Jolt Plaid Skinny Pants. Priced at $48.00, I purchased them for $31.90. I feel like these pants also incorporate a bit of Clueless style in them with the plaid. Looks like my fall wardrobe is going to be a Cher and Kylie collaboration (and I am totally okay with that). These pants are edgy and fun! I love the zipper pockets at the top. They aren't exactly functional, but they are super cute.

Those were the three major pieces I purchased today. I also bought some basic tanks and tops to go with the clothes I already own. I am going for a really simple look this fall, so I've been looking for a few statement pieces (like the ones I purchased today) to pair with simple things like plain button downs, basic jeans, and classy shoes. I'm so excited for the fall season because I can't wait to transition to my new wardrobe! And as for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, it is NOT something to be missed! If you're looking for the best deals on designer clothing, public access to the sale starts in on July 18th!!
<![CDATA[Summer Swimwear]]>Tue, 10 Jun 2014 00:07:10 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/summer-swimwearSummer is just around the corner, so it's time to start shopping for a vacation wardrobe! Will you be traveling along the Amalfi Coast in style or relaxing and shopping in the Hamptons? I've put together five travel-ready looks from my favorite collections for this summer season.

1) Greek Goddess:
I love this gorgeous beach look. It is perfect for vacationing on the Mediterranean! The navy and white accent the Grecian landscape, and the gold detail ties the outfit together!
In California, you never know what kind of weather you're going to get. A beautiful windy morning can become a scorching hot afternoon and end in a humid and rainy evening. That's why it is important to be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws at you! This is a perfect outfit for a day in Palm Springs because it's chic and modern. You'll look like a celeb in this outfit, whether you're lounging and reading Vogue or taking a dip in the pool!

<![CDATA[Trend Report: Hats]]>Wed, 28 May 2014 02:09:53 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/trend-report-hatsFor me, hats never really went out of style, but apparently, they are making a "comeback" this summer (so I guess they lost their cool at some point in time). Hats come in all different shapes and sizes, and they make the perfect summer accessory for beach days, garden parties, and everything in between!
First, let's briefly talk about fedoras. Fedoras are the worst. They always have been and they always will be. They're gross, weird hats that look bad on guys and even worse on girls. NO ONE (and I mean NO ONE) looks good in a fedora (including Jason Mraz). So get these nasty hats out of your mind and off of your head.

Now that fedoras are out of the way, we can focus on all the great things hats have to offer. Different hats work for different occasions, and these are some of my favorites!

1) For a day at the beach:
This Eric Javits Maribel Sun Hat ($295.00) is so unique. I love the cutout detail, and it comes in three gorgeous colors (natural, black, and fuchsia).
I also love this Eric Javits Swinger Hat ($350.00). It immediately reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would wear! Add a pair of giant round-frame black sunglasses for a classy and fabulous look.
This Laundry by Shelli Segal Nicole Floppy Hat ($64.00) is so fun and full of color! I love how sophisticated it is (and it's a perfect example of color blocking)!
Finally, I'm OBSESSED with this Kate Spade Sunglasses Canvas Hat! It is so funky and perfect for this summer season! The best part about this hat is that it's on sale right now (originally $88.00, on sale $58.96). Get it before it's gone!

2) For a southern (or northern) belle:

The Kentucky Derby is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated and fantastic annual events in fashion. Although it is often overlooked, the classic Derby style is amazing (preppy and colorful in one!). Everyone knows that no Derby outfit is complete without an insane hat! Even though us northern girls might not get to wear Derby hats on a normal basis, they are appropriate for dressy garden parties. Pair a Derby hat with a Lilly Pulitzer dress and you're good to go! Here are some of my favorite Derby hats!
Bow Derby Hat ($56.00)
3) Baseball caps
I love baseball caps. They're so easy to wear, and they're perfect for windy days on the beach. They always keep your hair out of your face, and look fabulous with a simple ponytail! Here are some of my favorite caps for the beach this summer!
Eugina Kim Darien Baseball Cap ($300.00)

Hats used to be great for covering up bad hair days. But with these stylish accessories, you'll want to be wearing hats all summer long!
<![CDATA[Style Tips from Cher Horowitz]]>Thu, 15 May 2014 01:38:24 GMThttp://champagneglitter.weebly.com/style/style-tips-from-cher-horowitz For those of you who don't know, Clueless is the original Mean Girls. And Cher Horowitz is the original Regina George, except she’s smarter, prettier, nicer, and dresses way better. But she’s still the Queen Bee, and she walks around Beverly Hills High like it’s a runway.

So, why is Clueless still relevant? It was released 1995, a time everyone was totally buggin' and people actually used Noxzema (eww... as if!). But, there is nothing that compares to the fashion in that movie. And, with the release of Iggy Azalea's music video for "Fancy," which shows her take on this classic film, Clueless is more relevant than ever. So when someone told me on Tuesday that my outfit looked like something Alicia Silverstone would wear, I couldn't help but fangirl on the inside because, seriously, who doesn't want to be Cher? She's like Barbie but with a better vocabulary and more friends (although she has a hard time finding her perfect Ken, who ultimately ends up being her Dad's second wife's son).

It's hard to say that the outfits in Clueless are timeless, because they really aren't. But that doesn't mean you can't still dress like Cher, Dionne, Amber, and Tai (new Tai, not old Tai). Everyone loves a good #throwbackthursday, right? Dressing like a 90's girl is easy with a few wardrobe adjustments!
Okay first thing's first. Tartan makes up a big part of the wardrobe in Clueless. This pattern is very similar to plaid, and although they really are not the same, they can basically be used as synonyms. Cher's iconic yellow tartan suit is so fashionable, but it's hard to pull off something like that today.
This outfit still has the preppy tartan look, but it's simpler than Cher's outrageous suit. This adorable skirt from ASOS is really similar to Cher's skirt, and it looks great paired with a simple white button down (I feel like I'm always promoting white button-downs). Nothing says "I HEART THE 90s" like apair of white knee high socks (go dig up those old soccer socks from that "attempting to be athletic" phase). Finish off the look with classic Prada mary jane shoes
Next step: jackets, sweaters, and button-downs (more? yes!). Statement jackets, like Cher's blazer, can easily be used to make simple outfits totally trendy (see some statement jackets I love here, here, here, and here). Now, the button-down-sweater combo is typically a winter look, but it can be adapted for mild summer days by wearing lighter materials.
This J.Crew sweater is super light and perfect for warmer weather! It's really soft and comes in great colors (I own it in pink, navy, and red). Pair it with thisbutton-down top! To make this look even more Clueless-esque, wear a button detailed skirt. Basically, buttons and collars are a MUST. These simple outfits will help you make an easy adjustment to 90s style, and before you know it, you'll be "rollin' with the homies."
On the surface, Clueless is just some chick flick. But, it actually has some pretty good lessons. Like... gym class is totally stupid.
Never accept an unfair grade.
Don't feel pressured to be with just any guy.
When in doubt, roll your eyes and say...
And never EVER become a Monet
There really is nothing quite like 90s fashion. After watching this movie today, I'm pretty sure I'll be making Cher proud with my outfit tomorrow.
