Rebecca Minkoff is now the latest designer to step into the world of wearable tech, and her timing couldn't be better! With Fashion Week quickly approaching, everyone who's anyone in fashion will be heading to NYC! Minkoff is planning to introduce two wearable tech products at her fashion show. One item is a bracelet that serves as a portable phone charger. This product will retail at $60.00. The other item is also a bracelet, however this bracelet alerts the wearer when she receives a call or a text. This product will retail at $120.00.
I love the idea of a bracelet that serves as a portable charger. It's a fantastic way to add style to a product that is typically mundane. And the price point is perfect; backup phone chargers can typically range from $60 to $200. It will be interesting to see the amount of charge this bracelet can actually hold and how well it really works, but it's definitely fashionable!
The second bracelet is certainly a cool novelty, but not as practical as a portable charger. While the specific details have not yet been revealed, I'm making the assumption that this bracelet will function similar to the "Ringly," which uses Bluetooth and an application to connect the wearer to her smartphone. When dealing with wearable tech, the price can make or break the success of the product. For what this bracelet promises, $120 is a fair price. Most of Minkoff's bracelets retail around $70.
These bracelets, along with a stylish gold portable charger, will be introduced at Rebecca Minkoff's fashion show on Friday, September 5th. I'm so excited to see these bracelets in action!!
