For my last full day in Rome, I decided to get dressed up and wear one of my favorite outfits:
I love this outfit because I'm obsessed with my sunflower skirt! I bought it last summer at Brandy Melville in Rome, but in America it is sold at American Apparel ($60.00). It looks so cute with a simple tank top and denim jacket! This skirt is also worn by Ariana Grande in her "Baby I" music video.
Our first stop of the day was the Furla store! I've had my eye on a candy bag for a long time, and I wanted to come home from Italy with an Italian bag, so I decided to purchase a pink candy bag!
Next, we went to Laudrée for the most delicious macarons! We got salted caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and a new flavor I had never seen before: Marie Antoinette. It was my mother's first Laudrée experience, and now she's obsessed!
Next, we walked to the Colosseum to check out what it looks like on the inside. It was HUGE!!!!
Finally, we went to the supermarket to do some shopping for our 10 hour plane flight home.
My spring break in Italy was so amazing! I got to see so much history and meet so many amazing people (and wear so many cute outfits!). I hope you enjoyed journeying through my vacation and I hope you've been inspired by some of my outfits! Until next time, ciao!
To take a break from the hustle and bustle of Rome, we took a day trip to Orvieto. About an hour outside of Rome, Orvieto is a quaint town with delicious food, fabulous shopping, and amazing views.
Orvieto is basically a giant hill, and we climbed all the way to the top to check out the insane view!
We had such a nice and simple day in Orvieto! Even though it wasn't as packed with things to do as the other cities, it was so beautiful and relaxing!
Our last day in Florence and first day in Rome basically consisted of another train ride, more traveling, and a bike tour around Rome. I won't bore you with all the details, but here are a few pictures:
In the middle of our bike tour, we stopped for some delicious crepes! I got Nutella and white chocolate inside of mine (it was AMAZING!)
In Rome, we stayed at the lovely Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria, which is about 20 minutes outside of the main area of Rome. This hotel was absolutely magnificent! We were given the the most beautiful and spacious rooms (and as a bonus, we got the comfiest slippers!) The hotel was so huge; it was like being on a cruise ship! Inside the hotel is a shopping mall, 2 swimming pools, a restaurant, and famous sculptures and art on display. The hotel was so amazing; we didn't want to leave! But, we had an exciting day planned in Rome! We began our day with a tour of the Vatican. We got to see the amazing sculptures of ancient Rome, St. Peter's Basilica, and the magnificent Sistine Chapel (where my dad nearly got arrested for trying to snap a pic of the beautiful ceiling painted by Michelangelo).
After the Vatican, we stopped at a cute market place for lunch!
Then, we took a nice walk over to the Trevi Fountain. On the way, I stopped in front of the Altare della Patria to take some pics of my outfit of the day!
I am wearing a pair of my J.Crew patterned pants and a pink J.Crew v-neck sweater. This outfit was perfect because it was super comfy. We did a lot of activities in Rome, and I wasn't uncomfortable at all in this great outfit! My only issue is that the sweater is a bit see-through because it is so lightweight. So, I make sure to always wear a plain tank underneath (and I can't say enough great things about this sweater; I own it in 4 different colors!). I am also wearing my favorite DKNY gladiators and two strings of pearls. This outfit was so bright and fun!
Our next stop is my FAVORITE place in Italy (and possibly one of my favorite places in the entire world): The Trevi Fountain! The Trevi Fountain is so magnificent and beautiful! The only problem is that it is SO crowded with tourists. But, I pushed my way to the front to get some amazing pictures.
I even got to have my Lizzie McGuire moment and make a wish! Finally, we ended the day with some gelato at the Spanish Steps. It was such a lovely day in Rome!
Keep checking for more on my exciting vacation!
Finally, another fashionable day in Italy! On our second day in Florence, we saw the David by Michelangelo and climbed 463 steps to the top of the Duomo, a magnificent Italian cathedral. It was a lot of work climbing up to the top, but it was worth it for this amazing view.
I loved my outfit for this day! I wore a blue and orange maxi dress with my favorite denim jacket. (BTW: A denim jacket is the BEST THING to bring on vacation! It's not heavy and it literally matches every single color in your wardrobe. There are so many different ways to wear a denim jacket, so don't leave it at home!) I am also wearing my favorite comfy DKNY gladiators and a gorgeous statement necklace. This was a perfect outfit for a relaxing, sight-seeing day!
After the Duomo, we went over to see the David by Michelangelo. I couldn't snap any pics because cameras were not allowed, but seeing the David in person was really cool. It's such an iconic statue and it's absolutely incredible (and HUGE). Then, we headed to our next activity: a private cooking class! We were paired with a chef named Desi from the Ivory Coast. He was definitely...interesting. got to make our own dinner (but we didn't get to pick the menu!) so we made homemade pasta with pesto sauce and marinara sauce, and rabbit stew (GROSS). But, the pesto was delicious!
Cooking in the kitchen was hard work, but it was so much fun! After our delicious homemade meal, we ended the evening in a predictable manner: with some yummy gelato!
Disclaimer: This was NOT a fashionable day for me, at all. But, it was one of my favorite days on the trip, so I still wanted to share it.
I committed such a fashion faux pas, but it was so worth it! We made t-shirts for our vacation with all of our names in a crossword puzzle. The crossword puzzle was complimented by a giant map of Italy colored in red and green. Imagine 8 Americans traveling around Italy in ridiculous matching T-shirts. We traveled from Venice to Florence by train. After a nice 2 hour ride, we arrived in Florence, ready to explore the city! But we couldn't take a typical walking tour of historic Florence, that is WAY too typical. So what did we do? A Segway tour. Now, imagine 8 Americans traveling around Italy in ridiculous matching T-shirts on Segways. Oh wait... I have pictures!
This was really the best way to see Florence! I toured Florence last summer by foot, but the Segways allowed us to see so much more of the beautiful city in half of the time! Here are just some of the many amazing places we saw while on tour!
I can't wait to share my next day in Florence with you! Stay posted because my next outfit is SUPER fashionable!
For our first full day in Italy, we traveled to the island of Murano in Venice. Only a 10 minute boat ride from the main island of Venice, Murano is known for its beautiful glass art.
We spent most of the day shopping in the glass stores! It was so much fun seeing all of the amazing, handmade work that is done by the glass blowers of Italy. I also saw a postcard of Madonna that oddly looked just like me...
After we were done shopping in Murano, we went back to the main island of Venice and did a little more shopping! It was so sunny and beautiful in Venice, which was a surprise because the weather is normally really rainy! I put together a really fun outfit for this beautiful day!
I am wearing one of my brand new pairs of patterned pants from J.Crew. I love these pants because I like planning my outfit around my bottoms as opposed to my tops. These pants are super eye-catching, so I paid them with a very simple Double Scoop Neck Knit Tank ($15.00) from Nordstrom. It was a little chilly, so I added my jean jacket to the outfit. My shoes are these super comfy DKNY gladiators that I have in black, white, and gold (I'm kinda obsessed with them).
I had an amazing first full day in Italy, but no day is complete without some delicious gelato!
Stay tuned for Day 3 in Venice!! Until next time, ciao!
I'm finally back from my AMAZING vacation in Italy!! I have so many photos to share with you! (1,537 to be exact...but don't worry, I won't post them all!) I figured the easiest way to do this is in chronological order so.... first stop: Venice! After traveling 8 hours by plane and 2 hours by boat, we finally reached our hotel: the Hilton Molino Stucky. For our first night in Italy, we went out for a casual dinner.
Now keep in mind, I had about 10 minutes to change out of my travel clothes and put this outfit together. But, I like this outfit because it's really simple. Just a pair of jeans, a tank top, a cardigan, and gladiators. The statement necklace adds a little bit of trendiness to this plain look!
This is just the first of many posts from my vacation to Italy, so keep an eye out for more!
